Recovery Ally Training Goes Virtual

This training is very interactive and is meant to provide a starting point to support people struggling with substance use disorders

Recovery Ally Programs are trainings designed to increase a community’s recovery capital, decrease stigma, and grow intervention skills. This training is a 3-hour online training based on the Virginia Commonwealth University curriculum used to train faculty and staff to become Recovery Allies.
AUDIENCE
All are welcome. This training is a helpful primer for family members, laypersons, friends, employers, health care providers, etc. For people with limited exposure to treatment or recovery, it provides some great starting points. For professionals or people with a great deal of lived experience, it will provide a set of slides, tools, and approaches that may be helpful with clients or family members or may provide an easy way to train community members to be part of the solution.

CCAR Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches

Recovery coaching as a peer-to-peer recovery support services has grown exponentially over the past few years. Over 12,500 coaches have been trained using the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy alone. The issue of ethical considerations has been discussed in many circles yet formal training has been lacking. This two and ½ day training addresses this critical need. Using presentations, small group work, and role play many areas will be addressed including: defining the coaching service role and functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision making, performance enhancement and legal issues.

Provided in a retreat-like environment, the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy® prepares participants by helping them to actively listen, ask really good questions and discover and manage their own stuff.

REVIVE! is the Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Education (OONE) program for the Commonwealth of Virginia. REVIVE! provides training to professionals, stakeholders, and others on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose emergency with the administration of naloxone (Narcan®). REVIVE! is a collaborative effort led by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services (DBHDS) working alongside the Virginia Department of Health, the Virginia Department of Health Professions, recovery community organizations such as the McShin Foundation, OneCare of Southwest Virginia, the Substance Abuse and Addiction Recovery Alliance of Virginia (SAARA), and other stakeholders.
